The list of endorsements for Democratic senatorial candidate Angie Nixon continues to grow. The latest addition is U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, an independent from Vermont. Nixon worked on Sanders’ 2016 presidential candidacy. Nixon defeated retired Lt. Col. Alex Vindman by 12 points in the Democratic primary for Senate despite being vastly outspent.
The governor announced the state is accepting grant applications for $70 million in cancer “innovation” funds available for state fiscal year 2026-27. Appearing in Orlando, DeSantis also released the latest list of researchers chosen to receive grants for the prior fiscal year. The governor, who leaves office in January, touted his administration’s focus on increasing cancer research funding, an interest inspired by First Lady Casey DeSantis’ cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Byron Donalds enjoyed a relatively stress-free night Tuesday in defeating 10 opponents to capture the Republican nomination for governor. But he performed poorly (third place) in some rural counties across north Florida where his Republican opponents Jay Collins and Bobby Williams performed well. Williams got just 4% of the vote statewide but had a double-digit performance in several rural counties.
