Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia wants insurance companies to be more transparent about how and when they send money to their affiliate companies. His comments came in response to a question about a report that showed insurance companies were crying broke in 2017-2019 while shuffling billions to affiliate companies outside the state.
Tropical Storm Isaias was upgraded to a hurricane late Wednesday night with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph, the National Hurricane Center reported. Swells from the hurricane are expected to spread across the northern and central gulf coast Friday night and early Saturday morning. U.S. Sen. Rick Scott said he’ll have his boots on the ground in Pensacola today, "working with local leaders and emergency management officials to make sure families are prepared."
The Emory Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University has published an online tool that assesses infections, hospital stays, deaths and the financial impact that eliminating vaccines could have in the coming years. VaxImpactMap Lead developer and professor of epidemiology and global health at Emory University, Ben Lopman, said his goal is to provide “tangible estimates” to policymakers and the public on the consequences of declining vaccination coverage.
